Our History:

The Bad Axe congregation began meeting together in early 1962 with families coming from Bad Axe, Pigeon, Harbor Beach, Cass City, Marlette, Shelby, and Akron. Today families come from Huron, Tuscola, and Sanilac counties to worship at the building in Bad Axe.

We have shown our love for people in our community by providing layettes for new babies, hosting school supplies giveaways, building handicap ramps, and responding to the various needs of families in our area.

We have Bible classes for adults and a children’s program called KC3, Kid’s Club Connected to Christ. You can find inspirational postings and view our Sunday morning service on Facebook.

We care about families, we care about service to this area, and we care about you.

We invite you to worship, fellowship, and work with us. We have a special place just for you.

We Care

Do you sometimes wonder if anyone cares?

We’d like you to know that as Christians, we do care! When you visit us, you will find genuine friendliness among those who care about your friendship! Everybody has their problems, some big, some little, but all real. Sometimes they overwhelm us, and we can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. We believe that the church is family, and we ought to help each other.

We also care about God’s Word. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. We have no guidebook but the Bible. Our Sunday Bible classes for all ages are rooted in the Bible. We try to model the church today after the pattern we find in the scriptures. We are a congregation of undenominational disciples of Jesus striving to be “Christians Only.”

If you are trying to find some answers and are looking for people who care, we hope you will visit with us and consider our plea to be just Christians. Search with us for answers in God’s Word. We believe you will find what you are looking for.

What we believe:

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
  • We believe in the God of the Bible, who created the world, as described in Genesis chapter one.   We believe that this creation speaks of His existence (Psalm 19).  To the extent that man is without excuse (Romans 1:20).
  • We believe in the triune nature of the Godhead; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17).
  • We believe that man is a part of God’s creation (Genesis 1:26-27).  And our purpose is to be pleasing to Him (2 Corinthians 5:9), to honor and to bring Him glory (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). To declare His praises (1 Peter 2:9).
  • We believe that sin separated man from God (Genesis 3):
    • And that sin continues to separate us from God (Isaiah 59:1-2).
    • The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
    • There is a wide gate and broad path that leads to destruction and many choose it (Matthew 7:13).
  • We believe that we are saved from that sin by God’s grace (Ephesians 2:8).  We also believe that man must have a faith response to that grace which involves:
    • Hearing the gospel message that produces faith (Romans 10:14-17).
    • Believing that message (John 3:16; Hebrews 11:6)
    • Confessing that belief (Matthew 10:32; Romans 10:10)
    • Repenting of the sin that separates (Luke 13:3-5; Acts 2:38 & 17:30)
    • Being buried with Christ in baptism (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38 Romans 6:3-4)
    • Remaining faithful to His cause (2 Timothy 4:7-8; Revelation 2:10)
  • We believe that when we are saved, God adds us to the church (Acts 2:47). And that the church is the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23), God's spiritual “Forever Family” on earth (1 Timothy 3:15) over which Christ serves as Head (Colossians 1:18).
  • We believe in the oneness of the body (Ephesians 4:4-6) and the need to assemble in order to encourage one another (Hebrews 10:24-25).
  • We believe that our lives are to demonstrate with conviction:
    • Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior (Acts 2:36)
    • Love is the greatest command (Ephesians 5:1-2; 1 Corinthians 13:13)
    • Unity is the desire and responsibility of every believer (John 17:23)
    • Service to others is evidence of God's love (Matthew 25:40)

Not A Denomination

We are not interested in man-made creeds, but simply in the New Testament pattern. We do not conceive of ourselves as being a denomination but simply as members of the church which Jesus established and for which he died. In other words, we consider ourselves Christians.

And that, incidentally, is why we wear his name. The term "church of Christ" is not used as a denominational designation, but rather as a descriptive term indicating that the church belongs to Christ.

We recognize our own personal shortcomings and weaknesses--and this is all the more reason for wanting to carefully follow the all-sufficient and perfect plan God has for the church.

All of the passages above are just the beginning of the truth.  Christ said: (John 8:32)“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”  We hope and pray that you will consider the things above.  We pray that you will study for yourself these things (Acts 17:10-11 and II Timothy 2:15).

Again we urge you to study with us, that we may help you as Philip did the Eunuch (Acts 8:26-39).

If you have read this page and you are seeking a relationship with Jesus Christ, or are looking for a group of Christians that strive to follow after Him through studying and following the Words written in the Bible, look no further. We are it! Ask us today about Salvation and the way to eternal life. We will gladly open God's Word and study with you.

(Acts 22:16) “And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”
